History
Freemasonry is a fraternal and charitable organization that teaches self-knowledge through participation in a progression of ceremonies. It is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political organizations. The basic organizational unit of Freemasonry is the Lodge, usually supervised and governed by a sovereign Grand Lodge. The first Grand Lodge was founded in London in 1717.
In early 2006 twenty Brethren held an informative meeting. Throughout the following two years these Brethren and others continued to meet from time to time, having in mind the formation of Masonic Lodges and alternately to form a Grand Lodge.
On the evening of the 5 th October 2007, having formed a number of Masonic triangles it was agreed to form an Association under the Ministry of Interior in Madrid which would be called the Gran Logia de España e Iberia, number 592462.
On the 2nd February 2009, one hundred Brethren belonging to the Masonic triangles met and elected Brother Ian L Hutchinson as the first Grand Master, it was agreed at that meeting that all Masonic Triangles would form the Gran Logia Simbolica de España e Iberia.
